Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley Endorses Judy Pineda Neufeld for Ward 7 City Councilor
Somerville, MA- Candidate for Ward 7 City Councilor Judy Pineda Neufeld has been endorsed by Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley. Congresswoman Pressley is a former Boston City Councilor and in 2018 became the first woman of color to be elected to Congress from Massachusetts. She currently represents Somerville in Washington DC as part of the Massachusetts 7th congressional district.
“In the more than 10 years since I was first introduced to Judy Pineda Neufeld, I have seen firsthand her commitment to uplifting the Somerville community,” said Congresswoman Pressley. “I know that, on the City Council, she will draw on her experience as a child of immigrants, an organizer, and an advocate to craft responsive policies and consistently make space for the voices of those too often left out and left behind.”

Judy Pineda Neufeld is the daughter of immigrants, a small business owner, and a public servant to the City of Somerville. She is a strategic planner who has spent her career developing comprehensive plans for city departments and large national non-profits, and she served as the head of Somerville’s Immigrant Services Unit under the City’s emergency pandemic response. She is seeking the open Ward 7 City Council seat currently held by Somerville mayoral candidate Councilor Katjana Ballantyne. Her campaign has also been endorsed by a diverse group of Somerville community leaders, including State Representative Christine Barber, City Councilors Mark Niedergang and Kristen Strezo, Ward 7 School Committee Member Carrie Normand, former Ward 7 City Council Candidate and Boston Chief of Health and Human Services Marty Martinez, and Immigrant Advocate Benjamin Echevarria, among others.
